Gas Based Fire Suppression System
A Gas-Based Fire Suppression System is an automatic fire protection system that extinguishes a fire by discharging a clean extinguishing agent into an enclosed area. It suppresses the fire without causing damage to sensitive electronic equipment or leaving any residue, making it ideal for mission-critical facilities.
How it works
- Fire is detected by smoke and/or heat detectors.
- The Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) verifies the alarm.
- A pre-discharge alarm (audio/visual) is activated, allowing occupants to evacuate.
- After a preset delay (typically 20–30 seconds), the gas is released.
- The extinguishing agent suppresses the fire by absorbing heat or reducing the oxygen concentration to a level where combustion cannot continue.
- The protected room should remain sealed for the required holding time (typically 10 minutes) to prevent re-ignition.
